Celebrating our first anniversary, my boyfriend and I embarked on a sun-soaked adventure to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Opting for a destination within the U.S. territory, we dove into the vibrant culture, turquoise waters, and colorful experiences that Puerto Rico had to offer, all without the need for passports.
Arrival and Aloft Hotel:
Flying with American Airlines on a Sunday morning, we touched down in San Juan around 4 pm. Our accommodation of choice was the Aloft hotel, where the lobby greeted us with cleanliness, brightness, and an array of colors. The resort fee included delightful snacks and complimentary one-hour bike rides, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay.
Adorable Room and Pool Exploration:
Our first impression of the room was nothing short of adorable – bright, colorful, and inviting. After checking in, we explored the hotel and took a dip in the pool, immersing ourselves in the relaxed atmosphere before calling it a night.
Unexpected Adventure on Day 2:
Initially planning an excursion, our Day 2 took an unexpected turn. With our mini boats excursion canceled, we hopped on the hotel’s bikes for a scenic ride to a nearby beach, embracing the spontaneity of exploration.
Kayaking and Beach Day:
Having pre-booked various excursions, Day 3 kicked off with kayaking. Opting for scooters, we swiftly reached the kayaking spot, only to face an unexpected twist – someone took our scooters. Undeterred, we savored beachside burgers and piña coladas, turning an obstacle into a memorable day.
Dinner, Rain, and New Friends:
Following our beach escapade, we returned to the hotel, changed, and joined my new friend and travel agent for dinner. Unexpected rain soaked us on the way back, adding a touch of spontaneity to our evening.
Water Bikes, Snorkeling, and GoPro Adventures:
Day 4 unfolded with a slight misadventure as we walked 30 minutes in the wrong direction to reach our pre-booked water bikes. Once in the water, the calming yet invigorating workout made it worthwhile. We also braved snorkeling, documented through the lens of my GoPro, overcoming the challenges for an unforgettable experience.
Departure with Cherished Memories:
As Day 5 arrived, we eagerly awaited our Uber to whisk us from the hotel to the airport. With hearts full of cherished memories, we bid farewell to San Juan, Puerto Rico, a destination that not only met but exceeded our expectations.
